Over the past few years, we worked closely with Ford on the £430,000 Innovate UK funded EB-eDrive project as part of the Driving the Electric Revolution Challenge.
Together we explored the use of electron beam (EB) welding to manufacture electric motor stators more efficiently and reliably. We achieved some fantastic results, proving that EB welding is a highly effective and repeatable method for joining copper hairpins in electric motor stators, and can play a pivotal role in the global shift towards more sustainable modes of mobility.
