150 kV Electron Beam Welding Machines

CVE’s 150kV electron beam welding machines are extensively used in the aero engine, aerospace and power generation industries, for high-precision aero-engine parts and other large, high-value components.

A higher accelerating voltage typically gives deeper weld penetration. It also allows the beam to travel a longer distance, up to 1.5m to the workpiece from inside the chamber, for greater depth of focus, while remaining largely unaffected by external magnetic fields.

How 150kV Electron Beam Welding Works

The XW model has a modular, flexible design for welding medium and large components, and is suitable for electrically conductive materials, with standard chamber sizes up to 4,000 x 2,100 x 3,000 mm. Motion systems can be configured with more than six or seven CNC axes, which suits the higher-end precision components typical of aerospace and defence work.

150kV electron beam welding machines are extensively used in the aero engine, aerospace and power generation industries, for typical parts including aerospace components and high-precision aero-engine parts.

The higher accelerating voltage allows the beam to travel a longer distance, up to 1.5 m to the workpiece from inside the chamber, so it is capable of welding larger workpieces with greater depth of penetration and depth of focus.

High positional accuracy of the weld is always maintained, and the process is less affected by external magnetic fields than lower-voltage systems.

The XW model has a modular, flexible design ideal for welding medium and large sized components, suitable for electrically conductive materials, with standard chamber sizes from 1,400 x 1,000 x 1,250 mm up to 4,000 x 2,100 x 3,000 mm.

Every system is built around a directly heated cathode, separately pumped gun column and PC-based HMI, with CNC control, wire-feed and a five-axis manipulator available as advanced options.

Industries and Applications

150kV welding machines are used primarily in the aerospace and power generation industries, for high-precision, high-value components. The same electron beam welding technology also serves CVE’s other industries, from automotive to nuclear power generation.
